AP Executive Staffing is hiring a Structural Engineer for our customer, a Buffalo-based, stable and rapidly growing Engineering Consulting firm. In this onsite role, you’ll work on a variety of structural design projects in the industrial, commercial, and AEC sectors. You’ll design structures using materials like steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and timber, as well as shallow and deep foundation systems. This position is perfect for a self-motivated professional who can take projects from concept to completion with minimal supervision.
Specific duties will involve:
- Working closely with in-house teams and external partners, including architects and engineers from other disciplines.
- Designing and analyzing structures, selecting appropriate systems, conduct research, and create drawings.
- Supporting project managers by helping with cost estimates, schedules, design calculations, and documentation.
- Ensuring all designs meet company and industry standards, building codes, and structural regulations.
- Collaborating with drafters and designers to develop project plans.
- Mentoring junior engineers and assisting them in developing their skills.
- Providing solutions to structural design challenges.
- Occasionally traveling to job sites (mainly in New York State, sometimes Pennsylvania) for fieldwork, with all travel returning the same day.
- Being available for occasional questions outside of regular work hours (no weekend work required).
What You Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (ABET-accredited preferred).
- 4+ years of experience in structural engineering and design, preferably in a consulting role.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) working toward licensure within 12-18 months.
- Strong knowledge of building codes and design codes (AISC Manual for steel, ACI for concrete).
- Experience with Revit is required.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software (RISA3D, STAAD Pro, or similar).
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and collaborate with team members of varying experience levels.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to travel locally for site visits and fieldwork.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screening.
