Description

AP Professionals has partnered with a medical imaging solutions company seeking a Purchasing Manager to join their growing Rochester team. Located on the westside, the company is seeking an experience supervisor with an interest in mentoring.  The Purchasing Manager will work with existing suppliers and seek out new suppliers. This position will focus on building a strategy around procurement, and interact regularly with floor personnel. A mix of small and large company experience is ideal, but must have small company experience to be considered. Medical device industry experience is a prerequisite.

Responsibilities

  • Source and evaluate new suppliers, equipment, goods, and services
  • Manage established vendor / supplier relationships
  • Negotiate optimal supplier agreements
  • Work with interdepartmental teams to best utilize ERP capabilities and perform cost/benefit analysis
  • Monitor inventory and perform cycle counts
  • Perform root cause analyses to verify and document materials
  • Review PO claims and contracts for compliance
  • Develop continuous improvement programs
  • Travel as needed to supplier sites to build relationships

Education

  • Bachelor’s in a related discipline or equivalent experience required

Experience

  • 7+ years’ purchasing management experience required
  • Previous supervisory experience required

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Excellent negotiation skills required
  • Strong analytical skills and business acumen required
  • Proficiency with MS Office and PDM software
  • Willingness to travel as needed (80% domestic, mostly in Rochester)
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
