Description

AP Professionals has partnered with a local company seeking a Part-Time Payroll Coordinator. The Payroll Coordinator will report directly to the Payroll Supervisor. The position includes performing daily payroll activities to ensure timely and accurate process of standard, as well as ad hoc payrolls, and related pay records via payroll and time and attendance platforms. The payroll encompasses US and Canadian, union and non-union, as well as hourly, salaried and commissioned employees. This role also enters, maintains and reports on employee data in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS). The Payroll Coordinator position is temporary due to growth, and the hourly rate is between $18-20/hour. The hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 am – 1:00 pm for the first week, and then could shift for a total of 32-36 hours.

Responsibilities

  • Input and/or upload and verify all payroll entries for accuracy as well as for compliance with best practices and audit requirements. This includes administering benefits calculations, voluntary and involuntary deductions, earnings, garnishments/levies, paid time off and manual checks in the payroll system
  • Input and/or upload and verify all employee data for accuracy as well as for compliance with best practices and audit requirements for new hires, terminations, and changes to personal and/or employment information
  • Create, review, and ensure proper audit trail of pre-transmission and post-transmission payroll audit reports
  • Assist in the preparation of standard and special payroll or HR reports for management, documenting and updating processes and procedures, and year-end processing activities
  • Assist in the testing of all payroll-related system enhancements and improvements
  • Perform other duties, as assigned

Education

  • Payroll or business administration technical education preferred

Experience

  • 1-3 years' related payroll experience (policies, procedures, and processes) required
  • HR data-entry and data-management experience preferred
  • Canadian payroll standards and regulations experience preferred

  • Ability to work both independently, and as part of a team
  • Strong sense of discretion, including the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Strong computer proficiency, including MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), payroll applications (ADP preferred), HRIS, and time and attendance applications
