Multiple Patient Service Representatives are available with a non profit health clinic located in downtown Rochester, NY. The Patient Service Reps will float between two locations. Hours rotate Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 or 6:00 pm depending on the worksite. These are full-time temporary openings paying $14.00 per hour. 


  • Serve as the face of the office and greet all patients with a smile and friendly attitude
  • Coordinate and schedule patients
  • Answer telephones, route incoming calls and initiate triage request if necessary in a phone call center setting
  • Check voicemail system regularly throughout the day
  • Check patients in/out; verify patient demographics, enter in health insurance information
  • Collect co-pays and other fees for services and process payments
  • Enter medical records into the system
  • Conduct reminder calls to patients to confirm upcoming appointments and reschedule missed appointments
  • Fax medical documentation as needed and requested by clinical staff and outside agencies
  • Sort, scan, and route incoming mail to the appropriate provider in a timely manner
  • Route inbound faxes within the system to the appropriate provider; attach results to orders
  • Assist in obtaining medical records from previous providers and ensures they are received
  • Manage release of medical records; track when sent and received
  • Perform new patient intake prior to their appointment on the same day
  • Maintain provider schedules and reschedule patients as needed


  • Medical Office Assistant Certification required


  • 1 – 3 years of experience working in a medical office or clinic required
  • Medent experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Excellent computer and organizational skills
  • Skill in documenting and maintaining confidential and sensitive patient care records
  • Good telephone manners and etiquette
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish preferred
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
