AP Professionals has partnered with a fluid power equipment manufacturer seeking two Hydraulics Applications Engineers to join their Rochester, NY team. The Applications Engineer will be responsible for analysis, validation, and support of current and future custom electro-hydraulic product designs; this position is only responsible for the application of fully designed products. This is a full-time, direct hire, benefits eligible position.


  • Perform analysis of hydraulic circuit design, including pressure and flow calculations
  • Review customer specifications to determine if products will meet listed requirements
  • Modify products to meet customer requirements, when necessary, including BOM’s and manufacturing instructions
  • Design mechanical components and assemblies, performing mechanical engineering analyses
  • Validate designs through failure modes and effects analysis, and validation testing. Document and report on test results
  • Review controller software functionality of design specifications, working with the design group on bug resolution or feature improvements
  • Create wiring diagrams and hydraulic schematics
  • Create manuals for the installation, maintenance, and operation for customer projects
  • Review engineering non-conformances, determine root causes, and establish corrective actions
  • Provide technical product support to Sales during pre-close of order and to Production during order assembly


  • Bachelor's of science degree in mechanical or electrical engineering required


  • Minimum of 4 years' practical, post-graduate industrial manufacturing experience required
  • Experience with fluid power equipment systems design required

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Familiarity with ANSI drafting standards and GD&T required
  • Solid Edge modeling software experience preferred
  • Engineering test experience (LabView) preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required
  • Must be detail-oriented, accurate, and thorough
  • Ability to work independently and on a team required
  • Proficiency with MS Office required
