AP Professionals is recruiting for a Human Resources Generalist for a local, Rochester, NY company. The Human Resources (HR) Generalist will be responsible for providing a range of HR support services and expertise in key areas such as recruitment, compensation and performance management, HR compliance, employment law, and best practices. This is a full-time, temp to hire position with a salary based on experience between $45K and $55K. A bachelor’s in human resources or a related field and 3 years’ HR experience required.


  • Assist in talent acquisition and recruitment processes
  • Prepare offer letters, conduct pre-employment screenings, and conduct new hire orientation
  • Assist in development and implementation of human resource policies
  • Maintain employee files and records in electronic and paper form
  • Ensure compliance with labor regulations
  • Work closely with Payroll team to ensure employees are paid correctly
  • Manage requests/claims for Family Medical Leave, Paid Family Leave, short and long-term disability and Workers Compensation. Tracks in HRIS for reporting purposes
  • Maintain HRIS records and create custom reports as needed from the database. Updates department information and documents on intranet
  • Perform benefits administration to include new hire enrollment, change reporting, auditing invoices for correct payment, and communicating benefit information to employees. Partner with the HRO and Broker to conduct the annual open enrollment process
  • Develop and support new initiatives and programs that contribute to a positive, recognition-based culture, and support career growth within the organization
  • Participate in the development of compensation structures through utilization of benchmarking, salary surveys, and internet resources in partnership with the HRO
  • Partner with HRO in developing department goals and continually evaluating the HR strategy, while aligning with the company’s strategy


  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, or a related field, with at least 3 years’ experience working in human resources required


  • Experience working in a multi-state employer with a highly distributed workforce preferred
  • Additional HR training or experience is a plus

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, ethics, and cultural awareness required
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office, HRIS systems, and comfortable learning new technical systems as needed required
  • Ability to be highly organized and proficient at managing multiple projects at a time required
