The controller is responsible for overseeing financial operations and providing the reporting and communication of financial results for a start-up division in a fast-growing Rochester-based company.  He or she will monitor the activity that affect the net position of the operations.  The controller will ensure the accuracy and validity of internal and external reports, presentations, and marketing communications.  This position is a key contributor in directional planning and establishing overall strategic goals.  The ability to work cross functionally and with external partners will be a key factor of success.  The controller must possess strong project management experience, organizational skills, and the ability to be able to produce an excellent work product while adhering to the deadlines imposed upon the business. This position will report to the president of the division.


Essential Job Duties:


·        Manage the valuation process and ensure accuracy and provide quarterly reporting.

·         Monitor capital flows and manage leverage/credit facility, and cash levels accordingly

·         Budgeting and variance reporting

·         Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements and footnotes

·         SEC filings and review of financial information for accuracy

·         Compliance reporting and managing external audit process

·         Provide financial support for tax requirements

·         Prepare financial information for presentations to the Executive Committee and/or Board 

·        Monitor financial performance and understand comparisons to competitors, benchmarks, and strategic goals

·         Provide ongoing recommendations for process improvements and/or efficiencies

·         Additional duties as required



·         Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited university required

·         5+ years’ public accounting experience, with audit manager level experience preferred

·         5+ years’ experience producing GAAP based financial reports and analysis

·         SEC reporting experience a plus

·         High level proficiency Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

·         Certified Public Accountant a plus
