Title: Property Accountant
Department: Accounting
Job Description:
The Property Accountant applies generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to analyze
financial information, reconcile financial statements, prepare standard journal entries, assist with
setting up of new properties, new leases, and new tenants. Prepare standard accounting and
financial reports for management and ownership for our vast portfolio.
Position Duties:
• Work to Improve our current reporting standards
• Perform month end close and analysis
• Run reports and GL detail as needed
• Assist with Project Accounting
• Accrue and reclass costs as needed
• Maintain, run and update RJE’s
• Review weekly payables as entered by Accounting Clerk
• Communicate all Capitalized Assets to appropriate depreciation and amortization experts,
get updated schedules and update Yardi accordingly
• Work with Property Management to prepare annual budgets for each property
• Review tenants CAM estimate and reconciliation annually
• Assist on Accounting process improvement and optimizing utilization of Yardi
• Assist with the processing of A/P and review of A/R
• Perform other duties as assigned or as necessary
Qualifications:
• Minimum 5 years relevant accounting experience
• Property Management, Real Estate and/or Construction experience a plus
• Highly proficient in MS Office and previous use of Yardi software is preferred
• Effectively manage time sensitive assignments and deadlines
• Must be detail oriented, organized, and possess excellent communication skills
Education:
• Degree in Accounting/Finance
