AP Professionals has partnered with a well-known, not-for-profit in Rochester to find a part-time Controller. This person will be a pertinent piece of the finance and development team and act as an executive member of the organization. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish, monitor, and enforce effective policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Prepare accurate, timely financial statements in accordance with our established reporting schedules
  • Conduct monthly and annual account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and general ledger maintenance
  • Analyze financial statements for discrepancies and other issues that should be brought to the Board of Directors and Executive Director’s Attention
  • Reconcile all balance sheet accounts
  • Supervise the department’s finance specialist
  • Coordinate annual audits with external auditors
  • Ensure proper and timely filing of any required federal, state and agency reports
  • Coordinate annual budget and planning process
  • Remain up to date on nonprofit best practices including state and federal law regarding nonprofit operations.
  • Represent the organization to financial partners including financial institutions, foundation executives, auditors, and public officials, etc
  • Collaborate with and provide counsel to Director of Operations and Human Resources during insurance renewal

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration required
  • MBA/CPA preferred
  • 5+ years accounting experience with 2+ years being supervisory
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
