Reporting to the Director Cost Analysis & Reporting, the Cost Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing a broad range of complex and difficult cost accounting assignments in order to make recommendations and implement changes in cost accounting methods and procedures.  Monitor and review operational spending to provide analysis for manufacturing management decision making process.  Analyze and maintain the accuracy of product costs for inventory valuation and for establishing accurate cost of goods.

Essential Functions:

  • Design and interpret weekly and monthly metrics comparing actual to forecast and budget to provide recommendations on manufacturing operation trends
  • Oversee and establish standard costs process and analyze bills of material and routings to ensure the accuracy of standard costs
  • Evaluate inventory transactions on a monthly basis to monitor inventory integrity
  • Provide costing information to other groups including marketing, management and R&D
  • Establish excess and obsolete reserve by evaluate inventory usage reports
  • Review and analyze labor, material, purchased price, obsolete, overhead variances
  • Prepare month end and year end closing entries
  • Coordinate and prepare the annual budget process by working with purchasing and manufacturing to establish material and labor costs. Analysis and compare the cost changes to determine correctness
  • Supervise and audit cycle counting and physical inventory processes and procedures


  • BA/BS in Accounting and/or Business Administration
  • 5+ years of related experience in a manufacturing environment
