AP Professionals has partnered with publicly traded company in Syracuse, NY, searching for a strong leader to captain their already established and well run corporate tax department.  Open due to retirement, this role will benefit from part-time cross training from the incumbent to ensure successful information transfer.  The ideal candidate will have multi-state and corporate tax planning experience.  This position will help lead the department to better collaboration between the corporate accounting team, with a specific focus on automation of processes and presentation of financial results for multi-department ease of use.  This is an ideal position for a rising star, specifically in search of a role that can provide continued learning and promotion with an emphasis on a very reasonable work life balance.


  • Oversee federal, state and local income and franchise tax returns, sales and use taxes, personal property taxes, and other miscellaneous taxes
  • Review transactions of the company for possible tax exposure and/or tax savings opportunities
  • Keep abreast of changes in tax laws and implement tax planning strategies where appropriate
  • Responsible for audits of federal, state, local income, franchise, and sales and use tax
  • Responsible for accounting for income taxes
  • Liaison with accounting staff on tax accounting issues and other technical matters related to the company’s tax liabilities
  • Ensure appropriate internal controls are in place over accounting for income taxes
  • Liaison with providers of outsourced tax services


  • Oversee the tax department 


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA or master’s degree in Business Taxation preferred
  • Five years’ experience with Corporate Taxation required
  • Five years’ supervisory or management experience desired
