RCI Manager

Direct hire, south of Rochester location, 60 - 80K salary

Responsible to build trust between the Rapid Continuous Improvement Department and all other members. Perform a variety of engineering assignments in developing and implementing production/processing methods and controls to meet quality standards in the safest and most cost efficient manner. Resolve work-in process problems.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and resolve work-in process problems
  • Establish RCI schedules and coordinate events in conjunction with plant needs
  • Train RCI members and non-RCI members in the principles of Rapid Continuous Improvement
  • Recommend and implement improvements and/or modifications in sequence of operations, equipment utilization, and related matters
  • Monitor assigned operations to assure compliance with approved methods and quality standards
  • Review proposals of outside vendors regarding the purchase of new or modernization of existing production/processing equipment
  • Must be willing to spend majority of time on the shop floor (approximately 80%)
  • Plans, conducts and supervises engineering research, design development or manufacturing engineering assignments; works under general supervision
  • Recommends changes in procedures, design or equipment where necessary
  • Schedules work to meet completion dates and technical specifications
  • Coordinates the activities of engineers and technicians assigned to projects
  • Reviews progress of implemented RCI’s with all members
  • Estimates personnel needs, assigns work to meet the completion date and reviews progress with management
  • Supervises, coordinates, provides leadership and reviews work of assigned members
  • Acts as liaison with other departments, units or organizations
  • Prepares reports concerning activities of assigned department(s)
  • Conducts performance evaluations and recommends merit increases, promotions, transfers and other personnel actions
  • Interviews and recommends candidates for employment
  • Supervises RCI team members that can include RCI Engineers, Flex Crew, or other RCI technical members

Experience/Education Required

  • 5 years of management experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering,  Management, or Technical Field - MBA preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust and a positive work relationship among members
  • Ability to teach members the RCI process and principles
  • Must have RCI, Ergo, Standard Work and/or lean manufacturing experience
  • Must have 3P, Poke Yoke, and load-load devices experience
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Skills/Knowledge Required

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles helpful
  • Experience participating and leading RCI events
  • ISO-9000 knowledge helpful
